Introducing Alonespace!
Alonespace was born out of a need that I had for my own version of self-care. Alone time. But not just alone time, alone time outside of my normal environment and without other people around. I enjoy going for massages and tried meditation, breathwork and yoga, but that just wasn’t what I was looking for or what I needed. I always left those things feeling incomplete and almost forcing myself to feel relief and say that it worked, because it was supposed to… but it didn’t for me. I was looking for something different, something not as spiritual and not as heavy. Plus, there are always seems to be the same “theme” for all the wellness spaces. They all have the same dark colors, weird music and uncomfortable decor. I wanted something simpler, lighter and cozy, so I created it myself and that’s how Alonespace became to be.
You can certainly have alone time in your home, but you are still reminded of the things in the house that need to be done. The dishes are there, the yardwork is there, the laundry is there… it can feel unproductive or there can even be a feeling of guilt for taking time for yourself in a space that has things around it that need to be done.
When you come to Alonespace, you don’t have to do anything. There is nothing that you need to do and you are not needed during your time in the space. You can truly have down time in a different environment to help calm your mind, ease your nervous system and bring you back to zero. You can use the space and time essentially however you best regain your energy. Maybe it’s ready a book, writing in a journal or having focused work time. I use it regularly for focused work time and for down time. For focused work time, I put my phone in the box provided so that I don’t get any disruptive notifications and then I have my laptop, curl up in the egg chair and knock stuff off my work to-do list. It’s really productive and my time. When I want to use it for down time, I still put my phone in the box, turn the lights off, turn on the crashing waves sound machine and lay in the Moonpod with the 10 pound weighted blanket. It is so cozy and like a cocoon where you can just sit and let your mind wander. No phone, no screen, no distractions… nothing.

Self-care looks different for everyone and I hope that Alonespace is able to provide the space and opportunity for each person to have their version of self-care in this space. You deserve it.
See you in Alonespace!
